Southeast Asia, Cambodia, Khmer Empire (Angkor culture), ca. 12th to 13th century CE; Thailand, Ayutthaya period, ca. 16th century CE. A lovely pair of bronze figures depicting Buddha: a Khmer gilt leaded bronze Buddha head crowned by a coiled coiffure and flaming ushnisha and a 16th-century Thai bronze body of Buddha seated in lotus position with hands in the earth-touching Bhumisparsha mudra. Size of larger (Buddha head): 3.5" L x 3.8" W x 7.8" H (8.9 cm x 9.7 cm x 19.8 cm); 9.9" H (25.1 cm) on included custom stand.
