Description:

Western Europe, Spain, Toledo, ca. late 17th to early 18th century CE. A beautiful iron rapier bearing a lengthy, tapered blade with a pointed tip and a shallow fuller that extends from the shoulder roughly 20% down the blade. The slender, ball-tipped quillons project outwards from the base of the carved wooden handle and have curvilinear arms radiating laterally off to form a minimalist, swept-hilt guard. Secured to the blade shoulder is a hemispherical cup hilt of classic Spanish style with incised striations coursing around the exterior edge. Etched onto each side of the blade is the word "TOLEDO" to signify the region of Spain in which this weapon was forged. Size: 42.7" L x 11.2" W (108.5 cm x 28.4 cm)
