**First Time At Auction**

North Pacific, Hawaii, Pre-Contact Era, ca. 17th century CE. Known to produce sedative, anesthetic, and euphoriant properties, kava has been consumed for centuries by Polynesians and Hawaiians and is commonly used as a ceremonial beverage.
