Description:

**Originally Listed At $650**

Western Europe, Spain / France, ca. 17th to 18th century CE. This is a beautiful matching set of iron sconces both cast into a scrolling style, with an ornate backplate featuring a central shield escutcheon that holds the two sconce arms. The backplate is shaped as a heraldry crest or shield, complete with scrolling mantling and supporting attendants to the side of the shield- note that the scrolling side flourishes curl inward and resolve as lion heads! The sconce arms curve upward with a scalloped drip plate for catching the candle wax. These could both be hung on a wall with decorative candles or perhaps updated with some electric lighting, as each have their original mounting holes intact - pierced through the upper crest and opposite end for this purpose. Size: 17.5" L x 13.5" W (44.4 cm x 34.3 cm)
