The handwritten inscription at the top reads "Matilda Nottingham, her work in the year 1837" and below is a short poem about the beauty of religion. Surrounding and framing the words are scrolling flowers, grape clusters, cornucopias, a tree, and birds. Size (needlepoint): 22" L x 21" W (55.9 cm x 53.3 cm); (frame): 27.75" L x 27.125" W (70.5 cm x 68.9 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010
