Description:

North America, United States, New York, ca. 1856 CE. A steel and wood percussion .44 caliber revolver made by Starr Arms Company of New York. This gun features a 6 shot cylinder, an iron barrel with 6 rifling grooves, and a front sight on the tip of the barrel. A screw on the right side of the frame allows the cylinder to be removed, when the barrel is tipped downwards. This model is marked with "STARR'S PATENT JAN. 15, 1856" and "STARR. ARMS. CO. NEW YORK." on the other side. "1507" is stamped on the cylinder and below the barrel alongside the sub-inspector mark "M". The stock is overlaid with a nice wooden grip. Starr revolvers were manufactured in the late 1850s and early 1860s and were used during the American Civil War. A classic piece of American history!   • Condition: Chips to wooden handle, with abrasions and light encrustations to steel components, otherwise intact and very good. Cylinder still revolves, but hammer does not lock nor does trigger cause hammer to fall. Firearm has not been tested for firing functionality.
