Lot 209C
Western Europe / Ottoman Empire, Belgium, ca. 1890s. A fascinating intersection of Belgian firearms manufacture and Ottoman customization - a fine carbon steel Colt-type revolver made for export and displaying multiple Belgian proof marks. The pistol's six-shot cylinder and frame are etched with scrolling motifs, and the grip is mounted with bone panels incised with circles. The barrel bears many clear markings: "Vero Clement A. Pistons" on one side, "Cap System Manufactured by C. Clement" on the top, and "J. Nikitits Erben Constantinople" on the opposite side. The latter name is also faintly engraved on the iron pommel cap, indicating the retailer or armorer who sold this piece in the Ottoman capital. Stamped beneath the chamber and before the trigger are three repetitions of the number 113132, likely a serial or assembly number. Near the trigger, "38 Cal" stamp. Proof marks on the chamber include a crowned "A" and a Belgian ELG stamp beneath a crown, confirming it conforms to the post-1893 proof laws. Size: 11.5" L x 1.5" W (29.2 cm x 3.8 cm); bore: 0.35" (0.9 cm)

#199016
- Condition: Not tested for functionality. Surface wear consistent with age and handling, with areas of light oxidation and scattered speckling of patina across the barrel and frame. Most markings throughout are legible, including barrel inscriptions and proof stamps. The bone grips show natural age-related patination and scratches. Cylinder shows moderate wear from rotation, with a few small pits along the chamber surface, but still rotates. Overall a fine and unique example.
