Description:

Western/Central Europe, probably English or German, ca. 18th century CE. A hand-carved wooden scabbard used for a dagger. The slender sheath features a tapered design with four faded figural panels illustrated on the obverse. A narrow brass rim is decorated with linear and concentric circular motifs and rings around the top of the scabbard. The verso of the wooden body exhibits an incised, abstract zoomorphic head along the top, an integral suspension loop, and a stylized zoomorphic head on the lower tip. Size: 7.9" L x 1.3" W (20.1 cm x 3.3 cm)
