Description:

Senufo, modern day Mali/Côte d'Ivoire, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. These are two unique cast bronze pendants with loops for suspension, with in the style of two animal heads back to back. The first shows two large-beaked birds and the second long-necked mammals with pert ears that may be some kind of deer or other ungulate. Both are very charming in their portrayals. Size of largest: 1.65" L x 0.75" W x 1.8" H (4.2 cm x 1.9 cm x 4.6 cm).

Provenance: Estate of Paul and Louise Bernheimer, Cambridge, MA and Laguna Woods, CA - acquired before 1980
