Description:

Mexico, ca. 18th century. A lady's knife comprised of an iron blade and brass handle, engraved with the following, "Adela Jesusita tu me enganas," which roughly translates to, "Adela Jesusita you cheated on me." Such knives typically belonged to ladies (perhaps of the night) who might encounter a bit of drama. We invite you to fill in the plot lines. The knife is petite enough to hide in a discreet location and comes with a hand-made leather scabbard that dates a bit later than the 18th century weapon. Size: 5-5/8"L with 3-1/2"L blade; 7-3/4"L in scabbard. Provenance: Ex-Historia Antiques, Santa Monica, CA All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. #109390

  • Condition: Knife is intact with a bit of normal oxidation and wear. Scabbard intact with minor wear.
