Description:

North America, United States, New York, Brooklyn, ca. early 20th century CE. A pair of 26 oz glass bottles made by the Marcy Bottling CO. Brooklyn New York, both with etched labels on the sides and lever top siphons. One is made by the Marcy Bottling Company and the other by the Victory Sparkling Beverage Company, with the name of the distributor business in Maspeth Queens, "Butler's." Soda siphons were widely used before WWII, and New York City was also once a major hub for siphon bottle plants, but today only one siphon bottle maker in Brooklyn remains active. The destruction of European manufacturing plants during the war and rise of canned beverages led to the decline of siphons. There are a few ounces of remaining liquid inside both bottles. Size: 4" Diameter x 12.5" H (10.2 cm x 31.8 cm)

Provenance: private Vero Beach, Florida, USA collection, acquired before 2003
