Each etching is impressive in its own right. Irwin Hoffman's etching "The Leatherneck" depicts a World War II soldier, PFC Cecil Keegans, and is accompanied by a note that quotes a letter Keegans wrote to Hoffman. It reads in part, "I hope that this letter will find you well and happy. I'm all right even though I was wounded in the action at Tarawa. However, I am out of the hospital and back on duty. I was hospitalized for a month and a half…I would appreciate it very much if you would send an impression of your etching of me to my Mom and Dad …"

Samuel L. Margolies "Path to the Sea" demonstrates his mastery of the medium. He trained at the National Academy of Design and the Beaux Arts Institute. His art career was interrupted when he served overseas during World War I, and during World War II he used his skills as a draftsman to serve the war effort.

Floyd Leslie Thompson's "Along the Chenango River, New York" is a stunning tranquil view rendered in a beautiful palette. According to the Chicago Society of Etchers, "His color etchings are a combinations of several etched plates … one distinct plate is made for each primary color, together with a key etching which carries the major etched composition. He long since departed from what is known as the traditional school. He minimizes lines and achieves his tonal effects by aquatinted surfaces. His methods are entirely his own and enable him to attain strong deep effects with a wide range of values, which is characteristic of his style."

Huc Mazelet Luquiens earned his bachelor's degree as well as his Master of Fine Arts degree from Yale University. In addition, he studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and the Academie Julien in Paris. Upon returning to the U.S. Luquiens was a portraitist on the east coast. He relocated to Hawaii in 1920 and traveled extensively, depicting the scenic landscapes of various islands. Luqiens was the first arts instructor at the University of Hawaii and founded the art department there. In addition he co-founded the Honolulu's Printmakers, Hawaii's oldest professional art organization, in 1928 with Alice N. Poole.

Accompanied by Associated American Artists descriptions for Margolies "Path to the Sea" and Hoffman's "The Leatherneck" as well as The Chicago Society of Etcher's description for Thompson's "Along the Chenango River, N.Y." and the printed letter from WWII soldier Cecil Keegans to Irwin Hoffman.
