Oceania, Papua New Guinea, ca. 1940's CE. A fine adze boasting a whetted stone head wrapped to a wooden handle via braided vegetal reeds and secured with a layer of grey clay. Boasting a sandy tan hue, the handle presents a tubular form with a tapered base. The deep grey stone head features a sharp, curved edge that is strapped perpendicular to the handle, as well as a clay and wood backing on the side opposite its edge. Size: 9" W x 21.25" H (22.9 cm x 54 cm)
