Description:

United States / South Korea, Seoul, ca. 1950 to 1954 CE. This is a collection of 79 original photographs taken by an American soldier stationed in Seoul during the Korean War. Various sizes, all in black and white and sepia tones of the countryside, barracks, soldiers dancing with Korean women, airplanes, crashed army vehicles, etc. On the verso of some photos are hand labeled notes with the location or significance - a temple ruin was where the soldiers took rocks- and a field for gold hunting. A view of the barracks is even hand labeled with what each tent is. An incredible insight into the war and soldier life. Of note, there are several photos of the band "Anything Goes" that preformed alongside the starlet Marilyn Monroe when she visited in 1954 (Monroe is not visible any of these photos). Sizes range: 1.3" L x 2" W (3.3 cm x 5.1 cm) to 5" L x 3.5" W (12.7 cm x 8.9 cm)
