Federighi (Brazilian, active in the late 20th century). 4 still life paintings. Oil on board, 1980s. Two signed in lower left. Two signed in lower right; one with date (81). A lovely ensemble of 4 still life paintings by a member of the Brazilian Federighi family. Each featuring a loose background of varying light and shadow, the paintings follow the traditional composition of a still life with an arrangement of commonplace objects, ranging from natural - such as apples and grapes - to manmade - bread, cheese, wine, and vessels of copper, ceramic, and glass. The differing textures and sensory experiences of the objects are complemented by the artist's astute use of liberal brushstrokes and varying colors. Size of largest (painting w/ apples): 7.5" W x 5.75" H (19 cm x 14.6 cm); of frame: 14" W x 12" H (35.6 cm x 30.5 cm)
This painter was likely related to Ettore Federighi (1909-1978), who was considered one of the best Brazilian still life painters. Ettore was a self-taught artist that began as a porch and wall painter and went on to become famous in Fine Arts salons of Brazil and Europe, with several awards around the world.
