North America, 19th century CE. An antique buffalo horn vessel finely engraved with mesmerizing scenes of female figures or goddesses and flowering foliage, all skillfully delineated via the scrimshaw technique. To create the cup form, the inner material of the horn was removed by boiling it in water. Following this, it was customized with beautifully executed scrimshaw engravings. Size: 1.8" in diameter x 2.45" H (4.6 cm x 6.2 cm)
