An American fire-starting kit complete with a bundle of dried tinder, a striking steel, a fragment of flint with a shallow groove along one side, and a circular glass lens with convex faces meant for magnifying and focusing the rays of the sun. All four components are held within the interior body of a brass carrying case that has an octagonal body and a hinged lid. Size (case): 4.375" L x 2.8" W (11.1 cm x 7.1 cm)

  • Condition: Minor abrasions to and slight bending to overall form of case body and lid, with light pitting to iron and flint, light foxing to glass lens, and expected desiccation to tinder bunch, otherwise intact and very good. Nice patina throughout.
