Description:

North America, United States, Pennsylvania, ca. early 19th century CE. A Kentucky style fullstock conversion rifle with steel, wood, and brass components. The steel barrel has octagonal rifling grooves and a long groove underneath for housing for the wooden ramrod. The lower third of the barrel features a forked sight. The lockplate is engraved with a simple linear motif, and the double trigger is protected by a curved brass guard. A rectangular brass patch box is set into the backstock for holding extra patches. The top of the barrel is engraved with the owner's name: "L J OLDHAM." A fabulous gun likely used for hunting and defending the homestead. Size: 51" L x 3.75" W (129.5 cm x 9.5 cm)

  • Condition: Tape reinforcing trigger guard. Steel wire wrapped around stock to reinforce the areas with losses. Losses, chips, and fissures to stock along trigger, lockplate, and forestock. Losses along barrel. Hammer does not move, and trigger is stiff. Gun has not been tested for firing functionality.
