Description:

North America, United States, ca. 1869 to early 1900s CE. A wooden and metal storage chest with wheels! This rustic piece is constructed from planks of wood with iron brackets. Both ends feature small wooden handles held in place with scallop-shaped fittings. The hinged lid opens and contains an iron latch and lock plate stamped “PAT'D MAR. 69,” likely a patent for the type of lock. Most innovative are four iron roller wheels attached to the bottom for ease of moving. Perhaps this small chest was used for a child while traveling, or for personal effects while at home. Size: 23.75" L x 11" W x 12" H (60.3 cm x 27.9 cm x 30.5 cm)
