Description:

Europe, United Kingdom, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A fascinating example of a steel bayonet with Nepalese inscriptions on two of its sides where the blade meets the socket; the third side is stamped in the same areas with the manufacturing mark, "WD R 12/84 537". This weapon most likely belonged to a Gurkha, soldiers native to Nepal who were recruited into the British Army. Size: 25" L (63.5 cm)

Provenance: private J.H. collection, Beaverton, Oregon, USA, acquired between 2015 to 2016
