Description:

**Originally Listed At $300**

Egypt, ca. 19th century CE. A cast bronze figure of Harpocrates (Harpokrates), one of the gods of the Triad of Alexandria, popular during the Ptolemaic and Roman Egyptian eras, especially in the city of Alexandria. The figure is shown seated, with an elaborate headdress, one hand raised to his mouth as befits the god of silence. Figures such as this were made as souvenirs for mainly European tourists visiting Egypt in the early 19th to early 20th centuries, are reminders of historical interest in the treasures of the distant past. Size: 1.5" W x 5.1" H (3.8 cm x 13 cm); 5.9" H (15 cm) on included custom stand.
