Description:

ORIGINALLY OFFERED AT $600

Latin America, Mexico, ca. 1900 CE. A moulded male wax doll depicting a dapper male figure, finely dressed a silky blue fabric uniform, similarly silky rose colored knickers, and silky/velvety green boots, all embellished with gold-hued trim. The attention to detail displayed on his visage is impressive: inlaid eyes (possibly of glass), arched brows, pointy nose, cleft chin, rosy lips, naturalistic ears, wavy brunette coiffure, mustache, and mutton chops. Although beeswax sculptures had been created for centuries, during the mid-1800s their popularity resurged in Mexico. A wonderful example! Size: 19-1/2" x 5-1/2" (49.5 x 14 cm)
