West Africa, Nigeria, Igno people, ca. 19th century CE; Ivory Coast, Baule people, ca. 20th century CE. A hefty brass Baule bracelet cuff with rattles, and an Igbo bronze bangle with a lovely green patina, mounted on a custom stand. The Baule cuff is decorated with wavy and triangular motifs cast into the surface, the 3 protruding lugs contain a pebble or bronze ball to function as bells or rattles as the wearer moved. The thick coiled bronze bangle is cast with that was used as a currency piece. Size (Igbo bangle): 5" Diameter x 1" W (12.7 cm x 2.5 cm); 6.25" H (15.9 cm) on included custom stand.
