Description:

Africa, modern-day Burkina Faso, probably Mossi people, 19th century CE. This is a tall human figure with arms on its hips and thin, splayed feet. There are incised details forming an abstract brow line and nose. The Mossi kingdoms maintained their independence until the French annexed their territory in 1896; their descendants still live in the region. Size: 1.35" W x 8.8" H (3.4 cm x 22.4 cm).
