Description:

Arctic New World, Alaska, Alaskan Native / Inuit people, ca. 19th century CE or possibly earlier for the stone tool. Three are lovely carved bone - probably from marine mammals - that serve as harpoon tips and attachments; two others are walrus ivory. One is barbed with a nice slot at one end to allow attachment of a sharpened stone point. All feature a single drilled hole for attachment. Also a curved bone hook attached to a wooden base, probably used as a balance or other tool on a harpoon, and drilled through in one place for attachment. Finally, there is also a stone spear point with a grooved center. All are displayed in a custom shadow box. Size of barbed tip: 4" H (10.2 cm); size of shadow box: 12.25" W x 8.25" H (31.1 cm x 21 cm)
