Description:

North America, United States, ca. 19th century CE. A handsome steel double barrel percussion rifle with nickel-brass inlays and wooden stock. The barrels feature a wooden ramrod, which still slides easily in and out of the housing. Along the forestock are 4 ovoid brass inlays with a silvery hue that contrast beautifully with the wood. The trigger is enclosed in a large brass guard with engraved foliate motifs which also adorn the steel lock plates and hammers. An incised and burnished crosshatched pattern decorates the backstock, and a brass buttcap completes this fine rifle. The wood has developed a wonderful warm red patina. Size: 56.5" L x 5.5" W (143.5 cm x 14 cm)
