Description:

North America, Western United States, Pennsylvania or Kentucky, ca. late 19th century CE. A lovely mountain long rifle with a sturdy stock that is hand-carved from a single piece of caramel-hued hardwood. The back stock has an integral rest ridge protruding from one side, and the back is lined with a brass plate reading "S.I.I." and "NB 79." The steel lock plate has a hinged hammer above the percussion firing cap, and the trigger below is protected with a semicircular brass guard. The lengthy barrel is smooth on the inside and has a petite sight just above the opening, and a slender wooden ram rod is housed beneath. Size: 48.375" L (122.9 cm); (barrel): 33.3" L (84.6 cm)

  • Condition: Original forestock cap missing as indicated by lighter wood color above ram rod. Loosening to some brass components, minor abrasions, nicks, and fissures to wooden stock, with inactive insect damage to wooden stock, and light encrustations. Nice patina throughout. Rifle has not been tested for firing functionality.
