North America, United States, ca. late 19th to 20th century CE. A fascinating wood laundry stick or wash fork presenting a flared handle, a lengthy shaft, and 2 tines, all stained a hue of caramel and hand-carved with elaborate decoration. Used for stirring and lifting clothes in a wash tub, the utensil is incised with a star and the initials L.R.G. by the root, lattice and arrow motifs on the body, and a jumping fish and a moose with a moon, a heart, and the initials "I.O.F." on the handle. Size: 35" L x 2.6" W (88.9 cm x 6.6 cm)
