Africa, Ghana, Burkina Faso, ca. 19th century CE. A fine collection of cast brass works created in the traditional lost-wax technique of the Akan and related cultures: First – A rectangular gold weight with an incised geometric and spiral motif, likely used for measuring gold dust in trade Next, amusing cast elephant – in a crouched grazing position with pierced detailing. Standing Male Figure – A tall, slender human form wearing a distinctive crested headdress and carrying an implement, with surface patina from age and handling. Each piece exhibits the characteristic craftsmanship, abstraction, and symbolic motifs associated with West African brass casting traditions. Size: .75" W x 2.75" H (1.9 cm x 7 cm); 3.375" H (8.6 cm) on included custom stand.
