East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, 19th to early 20th century CE. A small cast bronze censer featuring a seated rabbit as the finial. The rounded vessel rests on three petite nubbin feet, with the shoulder adorned with curvilinear motifs, while scrolling clouds or flames form the handles. The pierced lid allows fragrant smoke to escape through four openings, with the rabbit depicted upright and wearing robes. In the zodiac, the rabbit symbolizes luck, elegance, and peace, and those born under this sign are believed to be gentle, intelligent, and diplomatic. Size: 3.5" Diameter x 3" H (8.9 cm x 7.6 cm)
