**Originally Listed At $600**

Northern Europe, northern England, likely Sunderland, Victorian Era, ca. early 19th century CE. A lovely pottery bowl memorializing the Wearmouth Bridge built between 1793 and 1796 - the second iron bridge ever built and the biggest single-span bridge in the world at the time - all adorned in hues of lilac, pistachio, maroon, citron, and black on a white ground with lustrous splashes of metallic glaze creating a marvelous iridescence. Presenting a hemispherical body on a flared, ring-form foot, the vessel is skillfully hand-painted with a central ovoid of the bridge as well as additional depictions of a ship, a figural scene, coats of arms, and floral motifs, all accompanied by inscriptions of whimsical and dedicatory verses.
