Western Europe, Germany and Venice, ca. 19th century CE; West Africa, ca. 19th to mid-20th century CE. This a lovely and wearable pair of necklaces strung with glass trade beads from Europe and African made brass beads. The first necklace is comprised of opaque red glass disc beads and brass spherical spacers arranged with cobalt blue glass trade beads and red millefiori with creamy white and blue striations. The other strand has a symmetrical arrangement of black glass disc beads with yellow millefiori glass trade beads and a central triangular brass pendant with 2 brass spacers. Both are long enough to fit over most wearer's heads and are approximately the same lengths. Size (strands doubled): 30" L (76.2 cm); (largest red pendant bead): 1.75" L x 0.5" W (4.4 cm x 1.3 cm)

Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s
