Western Europe, Gothic Revival Period, ca. 19th century to early 20th CE. A beautiful wooden pilaster capital of the Corinthian order comprised of a finely-sculpted row of acanthus leaves on three-quarters of an octagonal abacus. Lustrous remains of gold-hued paint adorn the surface and a strip of metal can be seen on the verso, likely for attachment. Size: 11.2" W x 5.6" H (28.4 cm x 14.2 cm)
