Description:

Polynesia, Hawaiian Islands, ca. 19th century CE. An intriguing walking stick, hand-carved from a single piece of wood and capped with a highly stylized visage of a man. Presenting a long protruding beard that functions as a handle, the curious character bears a long mouth with a jutting lower lip, a wide nose, a trapezoidal nasal ridge, recessed cheeks, strong cheek bones, bulging eyes, and a straight brow. Naturally possessing a lovely tan woodgrain and burnished in a shiny lacquer, this is an excellent utilitarian example from Hawaiian culture! Size: 3.75" in diameter x 33.25" H (9.5 cm x 84.5 cm)
