Near East, Islamic culture, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful carnelian intaglio cabochon of ovoid form with Arabic script scrolling elegantly across its flat face. The transclucent red stone is drilled laterally in order to be suspended and worn as a bead. Size: 0.2" L x 0.3" W x 0.7" H (0.5 cm x 0.8 cm x 1.8 cm)
