Description:

North Africa, Morocco, Fez (Fes) region, ca. 19th century CE. A lovely pottery bowl known as a mokhfia presenting a round bottom and thick walls that swoop up to a gracefully flared rim, all sitting upon a ring-form foot. Boasting elegant blue on white decoration, the interior basin is skillfully hand-painted with elaborate lattice, floral, and geometric designs. Alternatively, the exterior is enveloped in a creamy white glaze. A piercing in the foot allows for the bowl to be suspended for display - that is when it is not in use, serving fluffy and flavorful couscous! Size: 13.1" Diameter x 3.8" H (33.3 cm x 9.7 cm)
