Western Europe, probably England or France, Neoclassical Period, ca. early 19th century CE. A skillfully carved marble head of a female presenting an austere visage with slender, heavy-lidded eyes beneath a straight brow, a naturalistic nose, sunken cheeks, and a closed mouth. Capped by a lovely crown, her long hair is centrally parted and twisted back in a small bun with a cascading ponytail. A wonderful example of Neoclassical art! Size: 4.25" L x 3.25" W x 4.9" H (10.8 cm x 8.3 cm x 12.4 cm); 6" H (15.2 cm) on included custom stand.
