Description:

North America, United States, New Mexico, Albuquerque, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A fine percussion rifle composed of steel and wood with a simple design. The long barrel features a groove and housing for a ramrod. The wooden forestock is supported with a steel wire wrapped around the barrel and stock. A sticker label on the stock contains an advertisement for the store - this may have been purchased at "WRIGHT'S TRADING POST" - and it mentions a short list of their specialties and their location in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The lockplate is slightly recessed and made of steel with etched foliate motifs, and the trigger has a thin, curved guard. The backstock is unadorned. This gun was probably intended for trading with Native Americans and is not overly ornamental. A fine firearm from the American frontier! Size: 51" L x 4" W (129.5 cm x 10.2 cm)
