A hand-carved ceremonial ladle used for serving kava (kava or kava kava in Tongan; yaqona, pronounced yanggona, in Fijian), made from the stems and roots of the pepper bush Piper methysticum, mixed with water. Rich brown patina envelops the entire ladle and provides for an attractive presentation. Lucite display stand for photography purposes only. Size: 21.8" L x 5.5" W (55.4 cm x 14 cm)
