Latin America, South America, Uruguay or Argentina, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. An impressive pair of silver spurs of a gaucho or South American cowboy, each presenting a spiked iron rowel flanked by a pair of rowel discs, a short, thick shank, a slender heel band adorned with incised floral motifs, and a leather strap with a silver buckle. A broad rope chain extends below each shank, terminating in a shell motif clip. Size without strap (both are similar): 7" L x 3.6" W x 2.3" H (17.8 cm x 9.1 cm x 5.8 cm); with strap: 9" L x 3.6" W x 2.3" H (22.9 cm x 9.1 cm x 5.8 cm); silver quality: 68% to 72%; total weight: 544.3 grams
