North America, United States & Western Plains Tribes, perhaps Lakota (Sioux), ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A collection of a Native American leather tassel and 3 antique brass tools / weapon fragments: a knife, a brass gunpowder flask with a USA eagle emblem, and a brass decorative fitting - possibly for a pistol backstock- with a scrolling adornment. The knife is an iron switchblade with brass plates on the handles, embossed with a deer head with a crossed rifle and sword. The tassel consists of 2 strands of leather are wrapped in orange dyed porcupine quills with metal jingle cones along the length, possibly used as a hair, saddle, or clothing adornment. Size of knife: 8.25" L x 0.75" W (21 cm x 1.9 cm)

- Condition: Leather tassel is stiff with age and is bent into a folded shape from storage. Losses to quills, and additional quill pieces are actively flaking off when handled. Knife is heavily patinaed and does not fold, encrusted open from exposure to elements. Pitting and softening to details brass gun fitting. Gunpowder flask is intact. With some minor indentations.
