Rome, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE; Northern Europe, England, Victorian period, ca. 19th century CE. A stunning gold pendant in the shape of an openwork heart formed by intricate, scrolling filigree with a dangling Roman glass bead at the center, boasting vibrant, turquoise iridescence. Several suspension loops line the periphery of the pendant, while a petite pearl bead on a gold wire embellishes one side and gold baubles adorn the face. The ancient bead presents a beautiful melon form. A gorgeous ornament from 2 distinct periods in history! Size of pendant: 0.8" W x 0.9" H (2 cm x 2.3 cm); of bead: 0.2" W x 0.125" H (0.5 cm x 0.3 cm); gold quality: 73.07% (equivalent to over 17 karats); total weight: 2.5 grams
