Northern Europe, United Kingdom, Victorian period, ca. 1837 to 1901 CE. A delightful carnelian intaglio featuring the image of a male - perhaps intended as a Roman emperor or another leader - facing left set into a beautiful gold ring with an openwork, trifurcated shoulder and a narrow band.
