Western Europe, England or United States, Victorian era, ca. late 19th century CE. A gorgeous sterling silver watch fob inlaid with a sizable emerald in an open back setting. The gemstone is faceted and oval cut, the table is set slightly above the smooth bezel lip. In the Victorian era, a watch fob served both a functional and decorative purpose, the short silver chain links attached to a pocket watch, allowing the wearer to secure the watch in a pocket while displaying a decorative charm or seal as a fashionable accessory. This could be worn today as a pendant if one desired. Size of fob w/ chain: 1.75" L x 0.6" W (4.4 cm x 1.5 cm); stone: 0.55" L x 0.44" W (1.4 cm x 1.1 cm); silver quality: 94.14%; weight: 5.7 grams

  • Condition: Emerald stone is reinforced with clear adhesive on the interior. Dark patina and toning to silver, but cleanable. Small indentations on the bezel encaseing the stone. Emerald has natural interior fractures and about a B grade clarity.
