Printer and date identified below lower border of image. An original advertising poster for "Baicoli, the famous Venetian biscuits" produced by the Colussi brand, featuring artwork by Emka, a mid-20th century Italian graphic artist best known for works like the Baicoli biscuit poster, part of Italy's classic advertising poster tradition. The composition features an elegant woman wearing traditional Venetian garb with a prominent headpiece and a voluminous bodice in a bold shade of scarlet red, being offered a tempting Baicoli biscuit by a lovely gentleman, who is also dressed in red which pops against the dark blues of the surrounding orb, with architectural elements suggesting Venice. All in turn contrasts with the cream hues of the surrounding background. A fabulous example of late Art Deco style featuring Venetian refinement. Size: 39.5" L x 27.5" W (100.3 cm x 69.8 cm)
