Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A fine pair of bronze rings from ancient Rome. The first is a key ring featuring a rectangular bezel with an openwork key attached. Some key rings may have been worn by women, as the "keepers of the keys" in the household, but others were used simply as jewelry and even ceremonial votive offerings. Alternatively, the second ring displays a petite square bezel that perhaps previously exhibited a design or inscription. Size (key ring): 0.8" W x 0.85" H (2 cm x 2.2 cm); US ring size 6; (ring w/ square bezel): 0.94" W x 1.04" H (2.4 cm x 2.6 cm); US ring size 6.25
