Description:

Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran and northeastern Turkey, Luristan, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE; Ancient Greece, Geometric period, ca. 8th century BCE. A wonderful collection of 3 ancient bronze artifacts: 2 Greek miniature vessels from the Geometric period and a cage bell from Luristan. The Greek examples consist of an exaleiptron with a zoomorphic lid resembling a swan and an elegant olpe with a high-arching handle. Alternatively, the bell from Luristan exhibits a spherical, openwork form surmounted by a flared suspension loop, indicating it was likely worn by an animal. Size of largest (exaleiptron): 1.6" W x 2.8" H (4.1 cm x 7.1 cm)
