Description:

Central Asia, Pakistan, Multan region, ca. late 19th to mid-20th century CE. A striking pair of giant lapis lazuli rings, each featuring a nearly 2-inch diameter lapis stone set within a circular cobalt blue enamel bezel. The bezels are finely detailed, with an enameled edge that complements the rich blue hues of the stones. The underside of each setting is adorned with intricate bands of geometric enamel motifs, a hallmark of traditional Multan craftsmanship. The metal, containing 21% to 31% silver, was typically sourced from melted silver or brass coins. Known as "Multan lapis," this style of jewelry - particularly rings, pendants, and necklaces - originates from the historic city of Multan, Pakistan. Renowned for its antique, tribal heirloom aesthetic, this type of craftsmanship is becoming increasingly rare, making these rings exceptional collector's pieces. Size of face: 2.3" L (5.8 cm); band opening: 0.7" Diameter (1.8 cm); US ring size 8.

Please note the enamel has a high lead content so handle with care.
