**Originally Listed At $150**

North America, United States, Alaska, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. Two charming bears, one made by Alaskan artist C. Alan Johnson (active/lived in Alaska, 1926-2013), and the other carved by J. Hanaka, likely an inuit artist. The polar bear is ceramic and signed on the stomach "C. ALAN JOHNSON © 1986 AD 84." The surface is hand-painted with white fur and black details on the face and feet. This polar bear was part of the collectable Alaska Figurines for which Johnson became well known. The smaller bear is hand carved from a light green and brown soapstone. The back legs are engraved with "J. Hanaka" and "AK USA." Size Johnson bear: 5.5" L x 2.5" W x 2.625" H (14 cm x 6.4 cm x 6.7 cm); Hanaka bear: 2.75" L x 1.5" W x 1.375" H (7 cm x 3.8 cm x 3.5 cm)
