Description:

First Nations, Northwestern Canada, Inuit, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A hand-carved soapstone and caribou antler sculpture made by an unknown artist. The figures consist of an adult with a child or pack upon their shoulders, a smaller child figure, and a polar bear with a saddle or bags upon its back. The antler serves as the base, cut and lightly polished to resemble a snowy ground. Size: 9.5" L x 5.5" W x 4.5" H (24.1 cm x 14 cm x 11.4 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010
